Our home made monster truck go kart powered by a Tillotson 212 electric start engine against a cheap Honda ATC200 at Busco Beach. We take these off road machines drag racing, trail riding, and mud running in a series of tests to find out which one is more capable off road. Our friend Charles joined us with his 212cc powered Coleman CT200U-EX!

Slap some mud hogs on that three wheeler and you won’t be able to get it stuck. P.S. three wheelers are nice because you really only need two new tires and just put the best of the old three on the front

one thing y'all could do, easy way to help widen the truck, reverse the tires and swap the sides they are on. it'll help a bit with the rolling feeling.

Quick question for anyone that can lend some knowledge. I just got a honda gc160 off a power washer with hopes to put it on my minibike. There seems to be no throttle cable attachment on the butterfly and i cant find anything to help me get it set up. Any fourms that can guide me in the right direction or did i just spend $50 for a headache? Thanks!

That is a ATC200E. NOT a big red. There was only one version of a 200 big red and it was shaft driven. The three wheeler in the video is clearly chain drive making it the 200E. And the only big red worth mentioning is the 250. Which was only made in 85 and 86. And it had full suspension. If memory serves the 200 was only made one year and that was 84. I might be wrong on that one though. I’m only writing this comment on memory alone so if anyone has more information and wants to correct me by all means go ahead. One question though: why are these grown men riding total piece of shit little kid bikes? I can see riding a three wheeler because it’s a little nostalgic, I have a 250 big red myself. But seriously all of you need to get some real machines! I’m not even gonna say anything about the truck 🙄.

Those old three wheelers were great for what they were made for, people don’t understand that muddling back then wasn’t done at 60mph. Just like a 6 wheeled Max atv or a Rokon 2 wheel drive bike, they are made to get you there and back, just not at light speed. You guys crack me up with some of these builds. What you guys really need to build is a piece of military hardware. Four wheel drive, four wheel steering, 1/2 ton hauling on a flat deck, you need an M274 Mechanical Mule platform truck. Think about it. (And no I don’t have one to sell).

That monster truck is just a fiberglass shell, make a fiberglass mold while it's still in one piece.

To be honest the Honda is simply a three wheeler. The monster truck is an actual creation which makes its cool factor go through the roof regardless of what it does in the trails.

Remove the body off the Mini Monster, set it aside for a mini-truck hella fast go kart build. Then, reinforce the now bare frame of the used-to-be monster truck, redesign the front suspension, install a torque converter, and maybe build a half or full cage. Hell, go all out and install the front driveline of that quad you guys just got. Either way, take that rig in a different direction. It's deserved that for a while now.

Ive always wondered if I could use a timing belt and gears from a large engine as a sort of belt drive for my go kart rather than a chain. Anyone have opinions o if it would hold or even work

You can probably do everything that monster truck can do and faster but that gun rack is going to poke you in the eye tear up your face can't imagine you didn't try and put some kind of rubber or foam around it looks like killer to me

You should get a simple 12 volt DC electric automotive-style cooling fan and bolt it on the 3-wheeler in front of the cylinder to solve the overheating issue.

I would find another pickup power wheel body, widen it 10 inches an cut it behind the "cab" and make the bed 10 inches longer. Add a frame mounted roll bar and set it just as high a the monster truck.

you can get one of those old school lawn mower seats with the coil springs under the (usually 2 some times 3) and put it on big red . He's still gonna be a great tow vehicle.

It's crazy you guys think the big red is so unstable my 12 year old daughter rides our 83 Honda 110 everywhere my parents have a cabin in northern Michigan and she had no issues and most of our rides were at least 30 miles I have a 84 Kawasaki tecate 250 2-stroke liquid cooled three wheeler you think the big red is crazy try riding the tecate

It's fun to watch young men learn the art of knowing which mud holes to go around. When I was young we got our entire club stuck in very deep clay that not only clogged the chains, but would not let go of the bikes. What took only 15 minutes to do, took us the remainder of the day to get 12 motorcycles removed from a "dry" lake bed. NEVER did that again. You are beginning to learn some of the reasons why the ATC was unpopular.

Throw that big red in low range sit on the back rack and put it in 2nd gear slow wheelies are addictive on those 200 big reds and if the rear brake works u can ride em for a long distance with practice. I own a brand new atv and a atc only time I break out the three wheeler is when I'm in the mood to wheelie

Also last thing I swear... There's literally a ton of performance options for the ATC 200 from performance topend kits clutch kits and exhaust, carbs,cams, and also insane cdi boxes with the Rev limiter deleted, the aftermarket list is endless on the Honda ATCs and 4x6 led cree headlights for like older Chevy S10 pickups are an amazing upgrade!

Second on the suspension side of that bigred I'd scrap that whole frontend and swap it out for an 85 ATC 200m frontend it's a way better design the 82-84 200e/es frontends are trash and really aren't worth building you'll just have to build mounts for your rack unless you find the impossible to get 200m front rack "hint hint" I have a few of those racks collecting dust!

A 4wd monster truck/ crawler has to happen now. You could use an old 4wd 4 wheeler as the drivetrain as well. 200-350cc Honda would be a perfect donor since they’re cheap and shaft driven so no more worrying about a belt to burn up in the thick stuff or even the rocks if you could find any. Maybe even go all out and do a cantilever suspension to maximize a smaller shocks travel and packaging potential? Just an idea anyway. Hope you’re all safe during this crazy time, can’t wait to get more updates on your new property guys!

I had a buddy that had a old big red three wheeler and when we would go thru deep water he would get off of it and the thing would literally float because the tires are so big and ballon-y. (I think that’s a word lol)
