We bring back an old Margay racing go kart I bought for cheap a few years ago! This barn find go kart was used by the previous owner as a racing go kart for his son (hence the small seat). Today, we fix the stage 1 Predator 212 engine, install new (better fitting) wheels and tires, fix the steering, and more. I crashed this go kart in a mini build off Ike and I had a few years back, so in today's episode, we're fixing the broken parts and going for a rip!

I just bought a go cart and I love it! But I’m looking for another one as well. I want one just like this that has the engine in the side. Everywhere I look they are either racing karts or 1,000 dollars. Where could I find an old builder that needs work?

Hey guys! I picked up a similar cart with a predator 212 on it off craigslist. Motor is in a crate but I was able to get it started. I need motor mounts, brakes, brake lines, exhaust pipe, clutch, and probably some random nuts and bolts I'm sure once I get into it. Was just curious as to where the best place is to buy parts? This is my first cart project and excited to get it running. Thanks!

I wanted to say I love the videos made me buy a go kart myself. I want to ask you do you guys take off the governor on all your motors because I have a Briggs and Stratton 206 motor with a big sprocket on a live axle. I hate the fact that the motor redline so fast and I was thinking of taking the governor off but I don't want to blow the motor since the motor is expensive. What would you recommend me to do I will be using it to race and just drive it around.

I realize that this is off topic and not related to this video. But I would love to see you guys make a video of the Predator 173cc vertical shaft engine and really push for performance kits for them on gopowersports. From what I know they are a great engine and it would really open up a lot of great opportunities for the race mower community

@Isaac it'll be fine thanks trying to build my kart and just working on the gearing. Currently running a 12t to 72t and tons of torque but top speed is terrible. Thinking about just getting a torque converter if I can squeeze one on it, tight fit frame is a old Bug Stinger

I have a very similar go kart that was in the back of Johns truck. It’s a Manco Phoenix? I think. Mines just the frame with everything except an engine.

I didn't get a really good look, but I believe that is a Margay ProX from about 1979. Was one of the best handling (fastest) karts of it's time. You should consider putting a 2-cycle kart engine on it and take it to place where you can run on asphalt.

Love the old carts. That same style of frame I did 72mph on a track with. was able to carry 62 through the corners. Man that was fun.

Some of the new racing go-karts have 125cc Rotax engines, & I'm assuming by the sound they are 2 stroke. It would be awesome to see you guys do a build with a Rotax engine, they sound amazing.

That's the same kart I raced as a kid except I had a 13hp methanol burning Briggs flathead, it sounds like you need a clutch with a higher stall, it would give you more power out if the hole...

I just picked up 2 ATV's for 50 bucks, 1 is a Polaris trail boss with a shot engine, but rest of it is great, I'd like to 2 stroke swap it as it has the CVT drive. The other is a Chinese type 250cc, engine is locked and I'm letting it oil soak to attempt freeing it up. I actually want to get the the 250 running as I find it unusual. Even though it's just a 250cc (well technically a 233cc according to engine plate) it's 2 cylinder with dual exhaust. From what I can find it appears to be a Lifan engine, which actually have some decent things said for them. If anyone has a 2 stroke engine laying around in the 250cc +range, for cheap or free.... please do let me know, I'd like to swap it into the Polaris.

Update, the 2 cylinder 250 has been freed up. Letting it soak in the oil through this week before I hook up electronics, drain and put in correct amount of oil. Then it's hope the plugs fire before converting to single carb and attempting start up. Still hunting engine for Polaris though.
